About Us
From the Zeal Men's Movement, was birthed this NPC. Our biggest project at this stage is our touch rugby team, the 'Blanco Storms'. ZEAL has been involved for 3 years in the underprivileged "Golden Valley" community in Blanco here in George, where many young men grow up with no fathers (or passive and uninvolved fathers). For them true masculinity has not been instilled, we see that fatherlessness perpetuates more fatherlessness as the cycle repeats itself and the problem only gets bigger.
We use sport as a platform to bring these young men together, build relationships and to gain trust. Through a weekly touch rugby training session that we started 3 years ago, we walk a mentorship path with these young men and prove to them that we are not a "fly-by-night" organisation. It has grown tremendously, and there are now over 40 young men that we are involved with, but the overall need is far greater than that!

Blanco Community Initiative
It is wonderful for us to see how it also brings the community of Blanco closer together, where before there was a lot of "politics" and division even within the Golden Valley. Becoming part of a team and a movement not only gives the young men a purpose and identity, but it teaches them how to work together and take ownership of their circumstances. We arranged a coach for them and have already achieved great success.
But as mentioned, the sport is only a platform, a foundation. What we are working towards is to influence these young men's future through training and skills development; to teach them responsibility and ownership; to mentor and guide them; so that they in turn can go back to their own community and make a difference there. It has been a long road so far to get some of these men to a point where we can now actually start exercising it.

Blanco Storms

Achievements
In September 2023, a few of the men were selected to represent the Eden District team at the National Touch Tournament in Durban. For most of these young men, it was the first time they had ever traveled outside of George. They were so inspired by the event and realised what they can achieve if they work hard and disciplined! Most of them were again selected to Represent Eden in March 2024.
